US Tile and Newpoint unite: a contractor’s product-documentation checklist

Westlake’s tile-brand consolidation is a useful reminder to preserve product identity, supplier records, and installation documents in every tile-roof file.

Brands & materials news · October 8, 2026

Westlake Royal has brought US Tile Clay Roofing Products and Newpoint Concrete Roof Tile together under US Tile Concrete and Clay Roofing. The change appeared in this morning’s Roofing Contractor newsletter.

What the manufacturer announced

Westlake’s release, dated October 1, 2026, says the consolidation combines the two tile portfolios without changing products, warranties, or customer support. The manufacturer also says product formulations, performance, and manufacturing standards remain the same. Read Westlake’s announcement (PDF) ↗.

Our checklist for a tile-roof claim file

  • Photograph the existing tile’s face, underside, markings, profile, and dimensions when safely accessible.
  • Keep older invoices and product documents under their original brand names.
  • Ask the supplier to identify the current product, availability, and any relationship to the older product in writing.
  • Preserve installation instructions and documentation for accessories and transitions involved in the proposed work.
  • Document physical fit and appearance when a replacement is being evaluated, rather than relying on a brand name alone.

A new name is not proof of a discontinued product

The consolidation by itself does not establish that an existing tile is unavailable, incompatible, or requires a full replacement. Our recommendation is to support any proposed scope with product-specific evidence, supplier information, and the conditions at that property.
